Loooooooong Weekend

The blog was quiet over the weekend because we were down at our new home.  This meant no Internet access other than the 3G on our phones, how did we survive?  Well, even if we had had Internet access we would not have had time to use it.  We are huge HGTV addicts and we always laugh at the couples on "Renovation Realities" and how they never finish their projects.  Well, that was us this past weekend.  Hanging the three piece crown molding took far longer than we had thought it would.  However, it was worth it.  Our bedroom is going to look amazing.  Well, on to some pictures.

Celebratory Champagne our first night

Bedroom Paint Colors. We choose Harmonious, the bottom sample

Paint Colors with curtains and our bed spread(pillow case) Harmonious is in the middle

Could have used a pick up truck

Installing the lower and cornice portions

Construction puppy.  Notice how the color selection is multiplied.

Crown hung, nail holes filled, joints caulked.  Awaiting paint.

So at this point we have decided on paint colors.  We will paint the trim in BEHR Ultra Pure White in semi gloss, the walls and vertical portion of the tray ceiling will be painted in BEHR Harmonious in satin, and the ceiling will be painted BEHR white in flat.

This was an ambitious and aggressive start to our home adventure.  In terms of finish moldings, a three piece crown is far from the easiest.  It was a huge learning experience, and lesson in patience.
One key learning point is to pay attention to the depth you are driving your finish nails.  Our nailer was set to far towards "Flush" and this resulted in us having to use a nail set far to much, a HUGE PAIN!!
All in all it was worth every second of frustration, every drop of sweat, and every penny we put into it.  We will post more pictures once it is complete but that won't be for a couple of weeks when we get the opportunity.
